Welcome to ESSWE10!

Welcome to ESSWE10!

Welcome to the anniversary 10th Biennial Conference of the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism, held in the vibrant and historically significant city of Vilnius. As the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius has long been a crossroads of cultures, ideas, and spiritual traditions, making it a fitting backdrop for this year's theme: Esotericism and Rationality. At the conference, we will explore the complex interplay between esoteric thought and rationality, investigating how mystical, occult, and spiritual traditions have intersected with and challenged the rationalist frameworks that have shaped the intellectual history.

Welcome to Vilnius!

Welcome to Vilnius!

Vilnius itself is a city steeped in history, from its medieval roots to its role as a center of learning and tolerance in Europe, where diverse traditions have coexisted and flourished. We hope that the city’s unique blend of old-world charm and vibrant modern culture will inspire your thinking as we gather to engage in rich dialogue and groundbreaking research. This conference promises to be a deep and stimulating exploration of how esotericism and rationality have shaped the contours of cultural thought. Welcome to Vilnius, and we look forward to an enlightening and productive exchange!
